Delete your account
For Echosphere (Echosphere: Calm News Reader), the iOS and Android app published by Mohamed Diop. Last updated 20 October 2026.
You can delete your Echosphere account and its data yourself, from inside the app, without asking anyone. If you can no longer sign in — or you have already removed the app — you can ask by email instead. Both routes delete the same things.
Delete it yourself, in the app
This is immediate and needs no approval from us.
- Open Echosphere and go to the You tab.
- Scroll to Advanced and tap Account data.
- Tap Delete your account, then confirm.
Your account is deleted at that point and you are signed out. The confirmation step is the last one — there is no grace period and no undo, so only confirm if you are sure.
Or ask us by email
Write to info@echosphereapp.com with the subject Delete my account, from the email address the account uses. We need that address to find the account and to be sure the request is yours; if you write from a different address we will ask you to confirm from the account's own.
You do not need to give a reason. We reply to confirm once it is done.
What is deleted
Everything below is removed from your account permanently.
- Your profile — your name and email address.
- Your account identifier and the device identifier used to send you notifications.
- Your saved stories.
- The topics you follow, and the order you arranged them in.
- Your preferences — your theme, accent, reading settings and notification choices.
- Your reading activity — which stories you opened, and what you returned to.
- Support correspondence, where you have written to us and asked for it to go.
Deleting the app on its own does not delete your account. The data above lives with the account, which is what makes it available when you sign in on another device — so it has to be deleted rather than uninstalled.
What is kept, and for how long
- Echoes you cast: kept, with nothing linking them to you. An echo is an anonymous vote that has already changed where a story ranks for everybody following that topic. It carries no record of who cast it, so there is nothing in it to identify you — and removing it would quietly rewrite what other readers see.
- Backups: up to 30 days. Deletion removes your data from the live service immediately. Routine encrypted backups are kept on a rolling 30-day window and are overwritten in the ordinary course, after which no copy remains.
- Crash and performance reports: up to 90 days. These are held by Sentry to diagnose faults. They record what the app was doing, not what you were reading.
- Usage analytics: up to 14 months. These are held by Firebase as aggregate counts. The advertising identifier is stripped out of both the iOS and Android builds at compile time, so nothing here follows you to another app.
- Anything the law requires us to keep, for as long as it requires it. In practice this is nothing for an ordinary reader account, since Echosphere takes no payments.
How long it takes
Deleting from inside the app takes effect immediately. An emailed request is actioned within 30 days, and usually within a few days. The retention windows above run from that point.

Echosphere is built and run by one person. If anything here is unclear, or you want to know what is held against your account before you decide, write to info@echosphereapp.com and you will get a straight answer. Our privacy policy covers what is collected while the account is open.
